Maison Margiela

Brand Fashion

Maison Margiela is a Paris-based fashion house founded by Belgian designer Martin Margiela in 1988, known for its anonymous, deconstructive aesthetic—raw hems, exposed seams, no visible branding. John Galliano served as creative director from 2014 until his departure in late 2024, succeeded in January 2025 by Belgian designer Glenn Martens, formerly of Y/Project and Diesel, making him only the third creative director in the house’s history. The house is owned by OTB Group and remains most recognized for its Tabi boot and biannual Artisanal collection. Beyond fashion, Margiela has extended into hospitality through its Restaurant & Bar at the Paris flagship on Rue de Grenelle in the 7th arrondissement — a space that carries the house’s clinical white aesthetic into its food and drink program — while the Tokyo location in Minami-Aoyama similarly integrates a café concept into the retail experience, making eating and drinking part of the brand immersion rather than an afterthought.
