Where to eat and drink during Shanghai Fashion Week

Six places to eat and drink as fashion month wraps up in Shanghai

Fashion is at a very Chinese time of its life. In April, Maison Margiela held its first show outside Paris at Shanghai Fashion Week, and the post-show dinner, built around the collection, was held in a rebuilt Shanghai alleyway. People are still talking about it, and we went behind that dinner here, from the chefs to the art direction. Balenciaga showed its Spring 2025 collection in Shanghai in the rain, with invitations shaped like soup dumplings and delivered in bamboo steamers. Dior brings Jonathan Anderson’s Cruise 2028 show to the city next May.

Shanghai Fashion Week opens October 8, and as fashion month wraps up in Shanghai, ffeedd and Passage Shanghai picked six places to eat and drink between shows. Three are Italian kitchens cooking with Chinese flavors, from lasagna made with mapo tofu to pizza built like Cantonese claypot rice.

About Passage Shanghai

Created for international residents and culturally curious visitors, Passage Shanghai looks beyond the usual city guide to explore exhibitions, spaces, makers and stories that offer a more nuanced view of Shanghai’s creative landscape. With an editorial approach that is thoughtful, visual and rooted in cultural context, Passage Shanghai connects people with the city through the places, ideas and creative practices that make it distinctive.

About ffeedd

Between shows at Halfull Project

Halfull Project sits in a garden villa in Shanghai’s Former French Concession. By day it’s a contemporary art gallery, and in the evening it turns into a grower Champagne bar, pouring bottles from small independent producers, made by the growers who farm the grapes, with cold plates served inside the house and out in the garden. The current show, Concealed Presence: The Boundary of the Visible and Invisible, is presented with M+M Gallery and brings together Chiharu Shiota, Yanxiang Lyu, Kayode Ojo, Lukas Müller and Alex Foxton. Thread, mirrors, fragmented bodies and elaborate clothing run through a show about what’s left behind once someone is no longer there. Block 2, No.136, Yongjia Rd, Xuhui District, Shanghai

Drinks before the show at ¿cómo

¿cómo is a 40-square-meter (430-square-foot) cocktail bar on the plane-tree-lined streets of Shanghai’s Former French Concession, white from wall to wall. The bar makes its own signature cocktails, mixing classic recipes with experimental flavors, and the volume stays low, which makes it the easiest place in the area to talk before a show.

Aperitivo with the showroom crowd at COMETA

Cometa is an aperitivo bistro with a clothing boutique attached, on the banks of Suzhou Creek, opened in 2021 by Milan-born Alan Grillo and his Shanghainese wife, Anqi Xu. The kitchen cooks Italian recipes with Chinese ingredients, so the parmigiana comes rolled up as spring rolls and the baccalà arrives with Chinese fried dough sticks. Cometa has worked with Our Legacy, Salomon, Bottega Veneta, Marni and Diesel. 1405 South Suzhou Road, Jing’an, Shanghai.

Dinner after the show at Yaya’s

Yaya’s started in 2021 as a late-night pop-up in a nightclub cloakroom. A year later it opened as a 40-seat pasta bar beside Jing’an Temple, where the pasta is rolled fresh every day in an open kitchen and local DJs often play into the night. Chef Dan Li worked in commercial architecture before he cooked. He’s from Xinjiang, and his pappardelle comes with a lamb ragù in Xinjiang spices. The lasagna is made with mapo tofu. The name comes from 牙 (tooth), a nod to al dente. That’s Shanghai named it Restaurant of the Year in 2023, and Louis Vuitton put it in its Shanghai City Guide in 2024. E Zone, No.329, Tongren Rd, Jing’an District, Shanghai

Celebrating a collection at Nono’s Ristorante

Nono’s Ristorante is a 50-seat Chinese-Italian restaurant up a flight of stairs on Yongfu Road, behind a vintage wooden door and a heavy velvet curtain, into an Art Deco lobby lit by crystal chandeliers. Chef Chris Zhu cooks Italian with Cantonese wok heat over a wood-fire grill and pizza oven, and the salumi is made in-house. The signature pizza is built like claypot rice, with Cantonese duck liver sausage and a runny egg, and the gnocchi come in a mapo beef ragù. The two private dining spaces are made for group dinners and the walk-in cellar keeps a lot of Champagne. Late on weekends the disco ball comes on and the kitchen sends out chicken nuggets with caviar. The name comes from the “no” guests say at the door, to a drink or to dessert, before they order another round. 2/F, 47 Yongfu Road, near Wuyuan Road, Xuhui.

After the after-party at Bar Goodman

Goodman started as a smash burger shop on the street and reopened in July 2026 as Bar Goodman, one flight up in Jing’an, with only the logo on the door to tell you you’re there. The house martini and the Dirty Goodman come out of a custom freezer at around -13°C. The Classic Smash Burger now comes with free-flow fries, next to oysters and steak tartare for the table. It’s becoming an after-work stop for Shanghai’s hospitality crowd. 2F, Building C, 98 Yanping Road, Jing’an. Open daily, 5pm to 1am.

Off duty at Junto

Junto is a craft beer taproom in Jing’an that also works as a space for projects and events run with its regulars. The taps pour Shanghai’s Brewlosophy, Xi’an’s Fever Ales and New York’s Root + Branch, and a monthly brewery residency brings in a different brewer each time, with Monkish from Los Angeles among past guests. Pizza comes in from Zup, including the Walter White with white sauce, house ricotta, roasted garlic and lemon. There’s a foosball table with a tournament every Saturday, and CDJs and a turntable for nights when someone’s playing. 273 Jiaozhou Road, Unit 101, Jing’an.

Halfull Project

Halfull Project

Aperitivo @ Cometa

Cometa 曾与 Our Legacy、Salomon、Bottega Veneta、Marni 和 Diesel 合作。

Yaya’s

Nono’s Ristorante

Bar Goodman

Junto
